Regeneration cream is not a legal product category
Panthenol, cica, PDRN and ceramide creams are grouped under one market label despite belonging to different ingredient families. User complaints cluster not on ingredients but on greasiness.

“Regeneration cream” is not a product type under the Cosmetics Act. It is a market label for creams built on soothing or barrier-related ingredients.
Korea’s Cosmetics Act classifies cosmetics by type, and “regeneration cream” is not on that list. The phrase groups products from different ingredient families, so the label alone does not settle what is in the jar.
Splitting by ingredient family
Checked against brand websites and Hwahae listings on 12 August 2026.
| Product | Lead ingredient family |
|---|---|
| Genabelle PDRN Regeneration Cream | PDRN |
| La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ | Panthenol (vitamin B5) |
| AESTURA Atobarrier365 Cream | Ceramides |
| Centellian24 Madeca Cream | Centella asiatica (cica) |
| Bioderma Cicabio Crème+ | Centella family |
Different families mean different purposes. Ceramides replenish barrier lipids, panthenol and centella are positioned as soothing, and PDRN is a further category again. One word — “regeneration” — covers all of that difference.
The actual complaint is texture, not ingredient
Hwahae’s “downside” review tags tallied per product. Raw counts scale with review volume, so they must be read as a share of total reviews.
| Product | Top downside tag | Share of all reviews |
|---|---|---|
| Centellian24 Madeca Cream | greasy | 19.9% of 1,222 |
| La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ | greasy | 19.0% of 5,422 |
| Bioderma Cicabio Crème+ | greasy | 16.3% of 965 |
| AESTURA Atobarrier365 Cream | greasy | 14.8% of 17,968 |
| Genabelle PDRN Regeneration Cream | artificial scent | 2.6% of 1,117 |
Four of five share the same top complaint. That complaints converge despite different ingredient families suggests the variable separating products in this category is formulation — the oil fraction — more than the active. Review tags are self-reported under uncontrolled conditions and are not evidence of comparative efficacy.
What labelling does establish
| Item | How to check |
|---|---|
| Ingredient family | Full ingredient list, including order of concentration |
| Human trial data | Only where the brand publishes it — read the testing body, conditions and sample size |
| Flagged and allergen ingredients | From the ingredient list |
| Functional-cosmetic status | MFDS functional cosmetics register |

Frequently asked questions
Is regeneration cream a category defined in law?
No. The Korean Cosmetics Act contains no such product type. It is a market label grouping creams built on soothing or barrier ingredients such as panthenol, Centella asiatica extract, PDRN and ceramides.
What should I compare instead?
The ingredient family the product is built on, and the formulation. Different families imply different purposes and different feel. Whether a human trial was published, and whether the ingredient list carries flagged ingredients, are also verifiable from labelling.
What do users complain about most?
Greasiness. In an August 2026 tally of Hwahae review tags, four of five products had a grease-related tag as their top complaint, accounting for 14.8% to 19.9% of all reviews.
